Yearly Recap 2024


The Caran Coward Memorial Scholarship was awarded to five local graduating seniors, each scholarship in the amount of $2,000.

Continued utilization of the FLOCK system to alert dispatch and officers of vehicles coming into the city that have been reported stolen and vehicles related to missing persons, amber alerts, etc.

 On Saturday, April 27th the Livingston Police Department participated in the ‘Drug Take Back Day’ sponsored by the Alcohol & Drug Awareness Council of Deep East Texas and Polk County Community In Action. Citizens were able to safely dispose of unused and expired medications by bringing them to the Livingston Police Department and two other locations within Polk County.

The department purchased an incinerator to dispose of seized drugs in compliance with DEA regulations.

During 2024, Livingston Police Department Officers and Telecommunicators responded to 13,580 calls for service with an average response time of 1 minute and 57 seconds. Department personnel investigated 376 crashes, investigated 1,287 criminal offense reports, and made 627 arrests during the year.

All commissioned officers, telecommunications officers, evidence technician, and animal control officer received a total of 1,621 hours of continuing educational training throughout 2024.

Livingston First Responders along with LISD Theatre arts students participated in the second annual Just One DWI Reenactment program at the Livingston High School parking lot. The "Just One" program is designed to educate students to the tragedies that can and too often do occur when individuals operate a motor vehicle under the influence (DWI).

Department officers and detectives provided ‘Active Shooter’ training and presentations to local businesses.

Police Department Officers and Mayor Judy Cochran gave Girl Scout Troop #101151 a tour of the Police Department, City Hall, and Municipal Court. Following the tour, the troop members were able to have a question and answer session with Mayor Cochran.

The department received a K9 for Cops grant placing K9 Hinu in Livingston I.S.D. schools.

Livingston Police Department participated in the 14th annual ‘Shop With A Cop’ event at the Livingston Walmart. This event provided a Christmas shopping experience for over 50 local children. Special thanks to Store Manager Jonathan Montalvo, staff at Walmart, and generous sponsors for making this event possible.
